Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric 2026: The Fun, Affordable City EV Comes to the UK
The city car segment may have shrunk in Europe over the past decade, but Renault is ready to revive it with a bang. The all-new 2026 Renault Twingo E-Tech electric is compact, fun, and, importantly, affordable — starting at under £20,000 in the UK. It’s designed to make electric mobility accessible for everyday urban life while keeping the original Twingo’s cheerful spirit alive.

Compact Dimensions, Spacious Interior
At just 3.79 metres long, the Twingo EV is built for the city — easy to park, simple to manoeuvre, and ideal for everyday commuting. Despite its compact size, the interior is surprisingly roomy, matching many larger B-segment cars.
Clever features like two independent sliding rear seats, full folding and reclining options, and a fold-flat front passenger seat make the Twingo flexible for both passengers and cargo. Boot space ranges from 205 to 305 litres, and expands to over 1,000 litres with the seats folded. You even get an extra 50-litre underfloor compartment for cables or small items.
Efficient, Nimble, and Fun to Drive
Under the bonnet, the Twingo E-Tech electric uses a 60 kW (82 hp) front motor and a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, giving up to 163 miles of WLTP range — plenty for the average UK city driver covering about 35 km a day.
Lightweight and agile at around 1,200–1,245 kg, it sprints from 0–37 mph in 3.85 seconds and 0–62 mph in 12.1 seconds, making it lively in stop-start traffic. Aerodynamic touches like underfloor fairings and small rear fins also help boost efficiency.
Charging Made Simple
Built for city life, the Twingo comes with a standard 6.6 kW AC charger that takes the battery from 10–100% in just over four hours — ideal for overnight home charging.
Need faster charging? The optional “Advanced Charge” pack adds 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC fast charging, taking you from 10–80% in about 30 minutes.
The Twingo also supports bidirectional charging, including V2L for powering appliances and V2G for sending energy back to your home or the grid — making it a smart, sustainable choice.
Tech That Makes City Life Easier
The Twingo E-Tech electric brings big-car tech into a compact A-segment design. It features a dual OpenR Link setup with a 7-inch driver display and a 10-inch central screen, all with Google built-in — including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and apps from Google Play. The Reno voice assistant lets you adjust settings, schedule charging, and ask EV questions using simple voice commands. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come as standard, both wired and wireless.
For city driving, the Twingo includes 24 driver assistance systems, such as hands-free parking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. These features make navigating busy UK streets and tight parking spots safer and easier.
The Verdict
The 2026 Renault Twingo E-Tech electric is more than just a small city car — it’s a versatile, fun, and affordable EV designed to make electric mobility accessible for UK households. Compact yet spacious, efficient yet fun to drive, tech-packed yet practical, the Twingo EV is ready to redefine urban driving and bring a spark of optimism to city streets.
